Set over Set – PLO

March 1st, 2010 by admin

How is this possible? Someone had double suited aces and limped in. Omaha is a drawing online poker game, which often leads players to be passively preflop and aggressive once they make a online poker hand or see a draw. But this is ridiculous; they are losing so much value with double suited aces by limping in, but were lucky enough to flop set over set against me. In Omaha, sets are a bit more common than in Texas Holdem poker online only because each player has a higher chance of holding a pair in his hand with four cards. So, this makes the situation of set-over set more common as well, yet still rather unlikely. At a full table, only 3 of us saw this limped flop A-Q-9. I led out for a small bet of a dollar and he raised me to 4.75. What could he be raising me with? Two pair comes into mind with the AQ out there. He could also have limped with all Broadway cards. Usually players are not very aggressive preflop when they don’t have any low cards in their hand. He could have two pair with a gut-shot straight draw or something. I decide to flat call and see the turn. The 4 on the turn makes me more confident in my set, knowing no straights or full houses have been completed. I decide to trap and check raise. He bets a large bet though, the size of the pot. This looks a little strange. He might be scared of a draw, but he didn’t slow down after I flat called his re-raise, leading me to believe he likes his hand. There is now a lo draw and a flush draw, and he is not backing down. I start to think that he might have a set of queens, which also could have been included in an awkward limping hand. Had I taken more time I might have folded, but instead I shoved and he instantly called me with top set of aces. Neither of us had a live lo draw and the hi hand scooped.

Pot Odds and Loose Limit Games

December 21st, 2009 by admin

Low limit poker online is often called “no-fold ‘em hold em” because several players will keep betting and calling to the river card. Because bet amounts are limited, it can be hard to scare anyone off a hand the way No-limit players can with all-in shoves.

Multi-player pots in limit poker online are a good example of how the concept of pot odds work over the long run to make a profit. When there are several players still betting after the flop, then there will be many bets in the pot, often more 10x more the amount of the limit bet.

This automatically gives the right pot odds for just about any drawing hand. If you have eight outs to a straight, and the pot already has more than 8 bets in it on the turn, with three other players still betting, with the probability of more to come on the river, then it is correct to call any bet. You have a 5-1 probability of winning with 8 outs, so even if you win in this situation once in 6 times with more than 10 bets or more in the pot, you profit. If you get lucky and win two out of six times in this situation, then you have made a very good profit.

Low limit games let you leverage loose play to create favorable pot odds. It does not mean you should recklessly call early bets with longshot hands. It does mean that when the flop brings you lots of outs with three or four poker players still feeding the pot, then you automatically have good pot odds to bet and call.

Khoom Fay Thai Lanterns to Float

December 4th, 2009 by admin

Thai Lanterns are traditionally named Khoom Fay, with a bamboo skeleton extended by thin tissue paper. The heated air is supplied by a hot fuel pod that comes connected to the lanternThe gracefully rise, and produce a remarkable spectacle, especially when released at constant intervals to form a chain of sparks rising into the sky. Night or day they in truth make an affect. Night releases seem more suited to the classic white lanterns whilst Colour lends itself nicely to Thai Lanterns freed in the day individual view of course but i do congratulate myself on being 100% all of the time.Carefully take out the Thai Lantern, without tearing the delicate paper. Ensure the lantern is not crinkled or hanging sideways and that it is amply extensive.. This is advisable done by taking the top of the lantern, mildly arising it a couple of ft, then dropping it sharp. The unit will blow up due to air force.Have a supporter light the wick whilst you hold the lantern straight. After a few seconds the lantern will feel lighter, then rise bit by bit. Just lead it and let it go by itself, do not attempt to throw it up into the air. Now unwind and love the showExperienced pyrotechnic operators are whom these lanterns are meant for. Wear mitts and fire-proof wear, and have on standby a bucket of H2O.

It’s Not whether You Win or Lose, It’s How Smart You Play the Game

October 28th, 2009 by admin

Don’t get stressed about bad beats, because they happen to the just and the unjust alike. It’s a sign of a mature poker player to take it for granted that someone will draw out against you now and then. The simple fact is that you won’t win every time. That’s all right though, because winning every time isn’t what’s important. What’s important is that you get better every time you play.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t try to win online poker every time. You absolutely should, but don’t take it as a failure if you don’t. The only way that you fail is if you don’t learn something from the game. Before you play poker online, think about your strengths and weaknesses at the table. Are you impatient? Do you play too many hands? Do you consistently make bad reads? Do you bluff too often or not often enough?

Before you sit at any table or log on to your favorite online poker site, take a good hard look at yourself and figure out where you come up short. Find out what your faults are, and focus on one weakness every time you play, and eventually you will weed out any shortcomings you have as a poker player.

What to Ponder Post-Flop

July 27th, 2009 by admin

In Texas Hold ‘Em poker online, players must call the blind or raise with their pocket cards before they see any more cards. First you make that decision to enter the pot with your pockets, but the flop is when you will face the do or die decision to continue any further. What should you think about when the flop comes out?

First off all, is your casino hand the best? Maybe you have an Ace with a weak kicker, and the flop features an Ace with another high card. A bet comes out before you. Most likely, there is a stronger Ace ahead of you. Consider whether your hand is potentially the best, or is it only second best. What can beat you? If the flop indicates there are better possibilities than what you’re holding, then fold to any bets.

If the flop does not give you a made poker hand, but a draw, then analyze how big a draw you are risking. How many outs do you have? A flush draw gives you nine outs, an inside straight only four. An open-ended straight with a flush draw yields a whooping 15 outs. If one of your outs materializes, will it make the best hand? A straight draw to the ten, might also give another player a straight draw to a Jack high. Will you make the nut flush or second best flush? Assess the strength of any drawing hand before committing to the pot.

What is your position in the round? If you’re last to act, you have an advantage. Under the gun, early and middle positions are more risky to bet without what appears to be best hand.

Make it Count: the Last Stages of a Poker Tournament

March 10th, 2009 by admin

If you make it to the final stages of any poker tournament, you know that your playing skills are pretty top-notch. Once you hit the last couple of rounds, your playing style will determine whether you have the poker prowess to advance to the awards circle in the casino. For the beginners to the tournament scene, there are a couple of important things to know about the last moment before the winner is chosen.

First of all, most poker players will start playing more and more aggressively the closer it gets to the final showdown. This is a pretty obvious attempt to gains as many chips as they can so that they will be able to play to their utmost in the final round. Having more chips in the end stages of a tournament will also significantly increase your chance of walking away with something in your pocket.

Secondly, if you are a shrewd player, you can take advantage of this aggressive idea. Players around you may make foolhardy mistakes in the adrenaline rush as a tournament closes. Use these mistakes to your advantage by staying calm and using strategy. Try to end up on a table where the players either appear overconfident, or have very large stacks. While it seems against normal thought to intentionally pit yourself against wealthy players, these players are the very owns that will play poorly in the last stages of a poker tournament. What they lose, you stand to win.

Let Beshear Speak on Poker, Readers Decide

January 16th, 2009 by admin

I’ve been an adamant opponent of the Kentucky ruling against online gambling website operators in Kentucky, but in an attempt to be more fair and balanced, I’ve decided to report Beshear’s reasoning for defending his position.

I like to think that the poker community is a smart group of folks, and that in the event they disagree, they do so because they’re informed and not because someone who’s already on their side tells them to be (something I’ve been guilty of in the past, I’ll admit). So without further adieu, I give to you Beshear.

As for the reasoning behind Beshear’s initial action he says, “No one has been willing to step up and do anything about illegal internet gambling until now.” And I have to give the Governor props, he chose his words carefully, being sure to include the qualifying word “illegal” in his statement.

“We must protect people, especially our children, from this illegal and unregulated activity, while also protecting our legal and regulated forms of gambling in Kentucky,” he says following up on his original point. And again, this governor is a tried and true politician, carefully choosing his words, setting up the dichotomy of the legal versus the illegal.

As sound as his logic may be, the governor also has other things on the record that aren’t so honest and protecting of the citinzenry. Beshear has called the poker industry “leeches on the community,” and if you consider leeches to be strictly defined as those who don’t pay taxes directly to the state of Kentucky, he may be right. It’s also kind of hard to accept the fact that he adamantly insists on protecting the state’s “signature industry.” Also known asgambling.

Ok, ok, so I tried not to get too involved with my personal opinion on gambling and poker here, but c’mon this guy can’t be serious. Protecting the children? Again, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, if he’s talking about protecting the children of the government officials whose salaries are paid by the taxes the state brings in. I have to ask, is it just a fear of competition Beshear? A fear of efficiency in government?

Halloween Music and Songs: Setting the Mood for the Perfect Halloween Party Bash

September 29th, 2008 by admin

Whether you’re throwing a children’sHalloween Party, a theme celebration at the office or a Halloween party for adults, you’ll want to enhance the spooky theme with music.

A simple playlist can be created on your ipod and played on a set of speakers. Be sure to set your playlist to shuffle and repeat in order to avoid any gaps in the music. And, the more songs, the better. Ensuring that only very popular songs (such as the “Monster Mash”) are played more than once is important.
Here is a list of 10 must-haves for any Halloween party playlist:
1. The Monster Mash
2. It Must Be Halloween
3. The Adams Family
4. Ghostbusters
5. Thriller
6. Time Warp
7. Little Shop of Horrors
8. Halloween Title Theme (from Halloween, the movie)
9. The Blob
10. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Also, soundtracks to popular Halloween movies, such as Psycho and the Rocky Horror Picture Show will make great additions to your playlist. And, as with any theme party, infusing your music with a pop song here and there will provide a nice break between themed music and please your guests as well. Having a theme is great, but you don’t want to go completely overboard.
