Tips on Kayak Fishing

January 30th, 2009 by admin

It takes a long time to become an expert in kayak fishing. The period of apprenticeship, which must be served in order to transform the novice into a veteran kayak angler can be discouraging and often runs into years.

About the nearest thing to a short cut is to have an old-timer take the first-timer under his wing and let the novice accompany him on kayak fishing trips

Basically, kayak fishing is gradually making a name in the industry. Its popularity is steadily creating sustainable gratifications aside from the fact that kayaks have long been used in fishing.

History has it that even in the early times; kayak fishing has long been the primary source of fish supply ranging from the “flatfish halibut” to other kinds of big fish. These activities, which happened from the mid 18th Century until the late part of it, were all noted by the Russian Orthodox priests. These turn of events are now known as “The Native History.”

>From then on, kayak fishing continued to dominate the fishing industry, where once, people were doubtful if it could really aid the anglers to catch some fish. The steady feature brought about by its “sit-on” type has long been the primary characteristics of kayaks that made it an ideal fishing boat.

However, with kayak fishing, the angler has to learn how to steady the kayak as he tries to paddle through the waters, in which it is considered as part of the whole process.

Therefore, for people who wish to know some tips about kayak fishing, here’s a list that may help them enjoy this tricky activity.

1. Safety first

Like any activity, it is necessary that before an individual plunges into action, he or she must first observe some safety measures and background checks to ensure security and protection against any imminent danger.

The angler must check the weather condition, the tide, and other elements concerning kayaking.

2. Hatches should be closed at all times

The angler should always keep in mind that it is best to keep the hatches closed while fishing. Water can never seep through the kayak if the hatches are kept closed.

3. Steady fishing

When the angler is already in the midst of the waters, it is better to have an anchor to keep the kayak steady while on the verge of catching fish.

Best of all, before an individual goes out to the waters, it would be better if he let somebody know his whereabouts. In this way, somebody will be able to keep track of your activity.

As they say, safety should always come first.

Boat Dock Accessories

January 30th, 2009 by admin

Boat dock accessories can help customize your boat dock to be not only more functional, but also more enjoyable for yourself and others you may take on boating adventures.

There are a variety of different boat dock accessories available for you to purchase to outfit your boat dock and turn it in to the boat dock of your dreams.

If you use your dock not only as a place to store your boat, but also as a location to entertain, you may want to consider boat dock accessories such as a gazebo or another type of shaded roof structure. Purchasing some sort of shaded roof structure will allow you to spend time out on your boat dock during warmer months without being completely exposed to the sun. A shaded roof can give you an indoor refuge while you are still outdoors, and surrounded by water on your boat dock.

You may also want to include, along with a shaded roof or gazebo, some sort of boat dock accessory that will provide seating for you and your guests while on the dock. Boat dock accessories such as benches can not only provide seating, but depending on the bench that you choose can also make your boat dock more attractive to look at.

Installing a permanent bench can also prevent you from having to carry chairs down to the dock each time you want to spend time on it, and an attached bench can help prevent your seating from being blown over, or even blown away during heavy winds.

The addition of a swimming ladder off the side of your boat dock can also allow for more enjoyable entertaining, allow guests to enter and exit the water with ease.

Functionality wise, there are several boat dock accessories to choose from that can make wonderful additions to your boat dock.

Some popular functionality based boat dock accessories include bumpers to protect your dock when your boat and dock have an unplanned meeting, gates to keep unwanted guests and children off of your dock, and storage closets, for all of your gear.

What boat dock accessories you choose depends greatly on how large your boat dock is, and what you plan on using the dock for. When purchasing boat dock accessories, have the picture of your ideal dock in mind and purchase accessories, that will help make your boat not only more functional but fun!

January 26th, 2009 by admin

There are lots of attention getting into hybrid golf clubs these days. Especially those hybrid wood golf clubs. So if you’re one of the die hard golf lovers, you’re next question would be, where could I get one? Don’t despair. I’ve written this article to help you get you’re very own hybrid wood golf club! But more importantly I’ll be showing you a technique that power sellers in Ebay are doing to get real cheap stuff, so you too can get you’re hands on hybrid wood golf clubs on a deep discount.

What technique am I talking about? What technique that Ebay Powersellers are using to get cheap stuffs? Two words, Auction Arbitrage.

If you’re not familiar with arbitrage. It’s a technique used by stock market players to profit from inconsistencies from different markets. In layman’s terms it’s basically looking for cheap stuff in other market and instantly selling it in another market. Sounds basic right? Because it is, but the implications are rarely used by everyday people. But Power Sellers are making a killing using this technique.

So how will this help you get a discounted hybrid wood golf clubs? Simple, just look for other markets that are cheaper. But the real magic is if you look for hybrid wood golf clubs in online auction sites!

Why auction sites? Simply because auctions have don’t have fixed prices. The prices are heavily dependent on supply and demand.

So the real gold nugget here is just simply try other lesser known auction sites. For the simple reason that there are few people bidding on items that it doesn’t raise the prices to ridiculous prices. It’s even better if you look for auction sites specializing on golf products.

Here are some auction sites that are specializing on golf products:

Golfbidder – http://www.golfbidder.co.uk
Golf Auction – http://www.egolf.com
Golf Club Exchange.com- http://www.golfclubexchange.com

Not so popular auction sites:

Yahoo! Auctions – http://auctions.yahoo.com
Auction Fire – http://auctionfire.com
Ubid.com – http://www.ubid.com

For a final tip! Use ” ” in looking for a specific product, example: “hybrid wood golf clubs”.

Use A Golf Training Club To Quickly Improve Golf Swing Speed

January 25th, 2009 by admin

Using a golf training club is one of the most effective ways to increase golf swing speed and power. You can’t get anymore golf -specific than using a golf training club.

There are many golf training clubs on the market and new ones coming out every year; but the one I’m talking about is a weighted golf training club. When you can literally mimic your athletic movement with resistance, you stand the make the biggest improvement…and quickly.

The goal of most strength coaches and trainers is to come up with exercises that closely resemble that particular athletic movement, but with some for of resistance. It could be handweights (dumbbells), medicine balls, tubing, or even a stability ball.

The direct impact on a golfers swing using a golf training club is an almost immediate increase in driving distance. This is because you are training your golf muscles during the movement, through the same (or even bigger) range of motion, with many repetitions.

A secondary benefit of using a golf training club that’s weighted is promoting an increase in backswing and follow through range of motion. This equates in more power at impact. Golfers are always trying to find ways to improve golf flexibility and power; and this is one way to do it.

Using a golf training club won’t be the cure to all your physical ailments and limitations, but will give you a head start on swinging with higher clubhead speed.

Just think about it! Swinging a golf training club won’t improve hamstring flexibility, nor will it strengthen your lower back. There are many specific areas of the body that don’t get worked when swinging a golf training club.

This is where you would do specific golf exercises, stretches and drills to isolate those weak areas to greatly improve your overall golf performance and prevent future injuries.

Another benefit of a golf training club that’s weighted is a quick warm up before you hit balls at the range or even play. Swinging it 20-30 times will quickly get your golf muscles prepared to hit balls more effectively.

Just beware! When you swing it before practicing or playing, you’ve got to swing your regular clubs, and hit balls with them, to make sure your sequence of motion is correct, before you hit the course.

As you can see, there are many benefits of using a golf training club; so go out and get one. They are a great training aid as part of your ‘off-season’ training program.

How To Use Rest To Gain More Muscle

January 24th, 2009 by admin

Are you frustrated with not gaining any weight while you keep putting in the hard yards in the gym day after day week after week. It might be because you are not getting enough quality rest and sleep and this could be what’s holding back those big gains you are looking for.

While you are on any weight gain program you have to be careful, you have to stop any intense cardio work, as it will mar your strength training progress by taking a big bite into the energy needed for your recovery.

Remember that your body adapts best to a stimulus when it only has to adapt to a single stimulus, and the main priority here is strength training so please keep all incidental activity low. In a sense you have to become “Lazy” By this I mean:

Instead of running “walk”.

Instead of walking “sit”.

Instead of sitting “lay down”… Get my point?

Another point is that if you want to gain more muscle, you will have to try to get more sleep. Go to bed early whenever possible and sleep late whenever you can.

Here are some other reasons why you should sleep more: * Insufficient sleep has been linked with increases in fat tissue in the body and a loss of muscle strength and muscle mass.

* Lack of sleep causes a decrease in bone density, particularly in women because it can lead to osteoporosis. Good sleep is as important as a service is for your car. It recharges your batteries, changes your oil and tops up your fluids so you can operate at peak function.

Sleep also repairs the body after strength training workouts and strengthens the immune system.

If you’re having trouble sleeping, it might just be that you are lacking certain vital nutrients in your diet, leaving you feeling depressed or anxious and causing you to wake during the night unable to return to sleep.

Try and include the following foods in your diet for a better nights sleep: Cereals

Unprocessed cereals contain starch and complex carbohydrate to fuel energy reserves and give a comfortably full feeling.

Starch is known to greatly increase production of the endorphin serotonin, which is the body’s natural feel good drug. It acts to control moods, reduce anxiety and promote normal sleeping patterns.

Try a bowl of cereal just before bedtime; bread is also a good choice.

Oats

The oat flakes from which porridge is made are an excellent source of vitamin B6, which is needed to promote serotonin levels in the brain. Alkaloids in the grains can also have a relaxing effect.

Tuna

Tuna and other oily fish are an excellent source of calcium, a lack of which is said to cause anxiety.

So increasing the intake of these in the diet may well relieve stress-induced insomnia. Oily fish is also an excellent source of Omega 3 oils, which are essential for general health.

Pasta

A good source of protein for those who are lacking this nutrient and its endorphin-stimulating amino acids.

Pasta has a very low salt content, and is low in fat. It’s rich source of complex carbohydrates to fill you up and because it releases energy slowly, helps you feel pleasantly calm.

A perfect food choice for relaxation before bedtime.

Bananas

Bananas are a rich source of potassium, a vital mineral for nerve function and a lack of which can cause you to feel depressed and in turn lead to insomnia.

Bananas also have plenty of serotonin stimulating starchy carbohydrate to relax you and are a good source of the amino acid tryptophan, also needed for the production of serotonin.

Nuts

Nuts are rich in B vitamins, proteins and selenium. Brazil nuts are the richest source of selenium.

Nuts are also high in protein, a lack of which can cause anxiety and depression. They contain both amino acids tryptophan and L-phenylalanine, which helps the body to produce those relaxing endorphins.

Strawberries

A source of vitamin C, which helps to produce endorphins and a good source of potassium, a lack of which can cause stress.

The red colour is due to a flavonoid, which seem to function as a biological response modifier or in other words they can change your mood for the better and help you relax.

In conclusion, to have a fully rested body every day is a giant step towards making big progress in the Gym. High intensity workouts can then be maintained for longer periods and you’ll have much more energy available during a workout to push out that extra rep. “Increase your SLEEP and increase your GAINS”

Reasons Why Leg Training Should Not Be Ignored

January 22nd, 2009 by admin

As a modern weight lifter or body builder, I want you to picture something. Picture yourself as an extremely musucular person with very little body fat. Now picture yourself walking down the beach and everyone is staring at you. You think they are staring at your body because it looks like its etched in stone, but the real reason is your extreme lack of leg development, otherwise known as chicken legs.

I would estimate that close to 75% of trainers do not work their legs, greatly reducing their bodies potential to grow. Working your legs has many benefits. The first and most obvious, is that if you would like to have a well rounded physique, you obviously are going to want a symetrical body, which can never exist without some mamoth tree trunks to support you. Another major benefit to working your legs is the extra growth hormone your body will produce. Why will your body produce more growth hormone? Because your legs consist of some of the biggest muscles in your body; your body will need to excrete more growth hormone in order to recover, helping other body parts grow as well. The third reason working your legs is very important, is for people who are looking to stay lean. Working your legs will use significantly more calories than other body parts due to there size and the time it takes to recover. Since your legs take longer to recover, your metabolism will be raised for a longer period of time. Finally, your body is a very intelligent machine, it does like to have imbalances. If you start to develop a lot of lean body mass on your upper body while your legs maintain the 12 year old girl look, your body is going to recognize this. To prevent your body from developing muscular imbalances your body can and will prevent you from retaining any more lean body mass until your imbalance has been corrected.

Hopefully after reading this article, you will be a little more driven to head to the dreaded leg room and get under that squat bar. Its for your own good!

Microsoft Flatters Nintendo

January 20th, 2009 by admin

During a press conference that kicked off the E3 Media and Business Summit in Los Angeles, Microsoft announced the details of their planned overhaul for the Xbox 360’s console interface.

Most of the added features announced are similar to Nintendo’s Mii. (The Mii is an avatar which Nintendo created for the Wii’s Mii channel.)

For starters, the overhauled Xbox 360 console will feature a community games channel with user-generated titles. One of its Mii-like features will be the personalized cartoon-like avatar which could be used in several new casual and family games. Users will also have the freedom to choose what their avatars’ clothes, hairstyles, and accessories will be like — a bonus quite similar to the Mii in the sense that avatars can also be customized.

In the conference, several new and casual games taking advantage of the Wii’s popularity were also introduced.

It looks like Microsoft has finally accepted the fact that Nintendo is way up in the gaming league. Ever since Nintendo came out with the Wii, Microsoft has been scrambling to recover its lost ground. This time, they’ve made sure to put into good use the Wii’s popularity.

Sounds self-serving? Not really. Let’s just call it an honest and smart strategy. It’s probably the only way Microsoft can catch up with the competition.

Imitation, indeed, is the sincerest form of flattery.

The Beautifull Game Called Football

January 19th, 2009 by admin

The football equivalent of the Oscars swept into London on Tuesday as the first ever FIFpro awards were announced in front of renowned stars from the worlds of sport, music, screen and even our very own Marc Duffy (but the legality of how the ticket was gain is still under suspicion!)

Over 38,000 players from 40 countries representing FIFpro were involved in voting, with 55 players short listed in the end. After a night of great entertainment, including awards for Ronaldinho (world player of year), Wayne Rooney (young player of the year) and Cristiano Ronaldo (young player of the year as voted by fans) the World XI was announced as:

GK: NELSON DIDA (Brazil/AC Milan

DF: CAFU (Brazil/AC Milan

DF: ALESSANDRO NESTA (Italy/AC Milan

DF: JOHN TERRY (England/Chelsea)

DF: PAOLO MALDINI (Italy/AC Milan

MF: RONALDINHO (Brazil/Barcelona

MF: FRANK LAMPARD (England/Chelsea)

MF: CLAUDE MAKELELE (France/Chelsea)

MF: ZINEDINE ZIDANE (France/Chelsea

FC: SAMUEL ETO’O (Cameroon/Barcelona)

FC: ANDREI SHEVCHENKO (Ukraine/AC Milan

But really do we care about the ‘official’ team? A team that has that has 5 players over 30, with a combined age of 168? A team with a certain Zinedine Zidane, who in truth, had an ordinary season for Real Madrid? Of course we don’t because there’s only one ‘official’ team that matters and that’s the Bootroom XI, voted by you, the SI public. So without further ado in association with Sports Interactive The Bootroom proudly presents YOUR World XI.

Note: The players in each position have been listed in ascending order i.e. Terry was the most voted for defender

GK- PETR CECH (Czech Republic/Chelsea): The best goalie in the Premiership, if not the world. In his first season in England not only did he pick up his first championship medal, Cech also set a run of 1024 minutes without conceding a goal, a new English top flight record. Fewest goals conceded and most clean sheets last season not only won him the Barclays Golden Gloves for ‘04/’05 but also the number one shirt in you World XI.

DF- JOHN TERRY (England/Chelsea): José Mourinho has dubbed him ‘the best centre-back in the world’ and who could argue? After lifting both the League Cup and Premiership title, world class display at the back saw Terry also Voted Player of the Year by his fellow professionals. England’s defeat to Northern Ireland just proved how much the England defense missed Terry’s leadership and organization, adding more claim that he is the best centre-back in the world.

DF- CARLES PUYOL SAFORCADA (Spain/Barcelona): On the 2nd October 1999 Puyol made his first team debut, and ever since then has made the right side of defense his own. A player that always gives his all, this season has seen Puyol linked to a move to the Premiership with both Manchester United and Arsenal the leading candidates. Only 27, Puyol is entering his prime which could see him, one day lead both club and country.

DF- ALESSANDRO NESTA (Italy/AC Milan): One of the five players that appears in both the FIFpro and The Bootroom World XI. Capped over 60 times for his country Nesta is a typical Italian defender, hard to get pass and comfortable on the ball. In his first season with AC Milan he won the Coppa Italia, Champions League and European Super Cup and was very unlucky to collect a runners up medal in the defeat to Liverpool

DF- GABRIEL HEINZE (Argentina/Manchester United): A £6.9 million signing from PSG, Heinze won over both fans and pundits with his tough tackling and 100% commitment to the task. Picking up the Fans player of the year for United a nasty injury against Villarreal, sees the left-back out for the rest of the season, a massive blow for Alex Ferguson’s team.

MF- RONALDINHO (Brazil/Barcelona): The third player to be voted in both the FIFpro and Bootroom World XI. What can you say about Ronaldo de Assis Moreira that hasn’t been said? A 27 million Euro signing from PSG, the little Brazilian has tricked his way through the best defenses in La Liga and on the International stage. Ronaldinho can sit his FIFpro world player of the year award next to his FIFA world player of the year award and his La Liga Championship medal, both won last year.

MF- STEVEN GERRARD (England/Liverpool): Gerrard help lift Liverpool’s fifth European Cup with an inspirational performance in Istanbul last season and that’s why he’s been picked in your World XI. With nearly 300 games under his belt for Liverpool Gerrard has lifted the League cup (twice), FA Cup and UEFA Cup in his seven years in the first team. A driving force for Liverpool, when Gerrard is on top of his game he is quite unstoppable.

MF- FRANK LAMPARD (England/Chelsea): The fourth player that appears in both the FIFpro and Bootroom World XI. Winning Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association, Barclay’s player of the year and Player of the Year by fans on the PFA website just shows what kind of season Frank Lampard Jnr had. A £11 million signing from West Ham, a lot of fans and pundits were bemused as why Chelsea were fork out so much for an over-weight and over-rated player. But four years on Lampard has become an established part of the team scoring important goals from midfield.

MF- KAKA (Brazil/Ac Milan): The 23 year old really shined this season with a brilliant first half performance against Liverpool in the Champion’s League Final. Signing from So Paulo FC in 2003, Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite scored 10 goals in 30 appearances winning the Italian Serie A Championship and the European Super Cup in his first season. Kaka’s best position is just behind the striker where his killer passing and arriving late in the box has quickly become his trademark.

FC- ADRIANO (Brazil/Inter Milan): A must signing for all players of Football Manager, Adriano Leite Ribeiro showed what a class striker he is with an impressive 15 goals in 16 appearances last season. A powerful and very skillful striker who seems to have been around for ages, Adriano is still only 23 and has an incredible future in front of him

FC- ANDREI SHEVCHENKO: (Ukraine/AC Milan): The last player to be picked in both the FIFpro and Bootroom World XI. Signing for $26 million from Dynamo Kyiv, Shevchenko will go down as one of the best strikers to grace Serie A. In December 2004, Shevchenko was named European Footballer of the Year after scoring the winning penalty against Juventus in the Champions League final in 2003. Shevchenko can score goals with both feet, is graced with great close control and pace that often leaves defenders for dead.

Understanding Diamonds

January 17th, 2009 by admin

A diamond is just pure carbon crystal. If you look at the chemistry of diamond, it is pure carbon. The arrangement of the carbon atoms differently makes it a unique gem. A diamond is considered precious from the ancient times and is popular for its strength.

How a diamond is formed?

Diamonds are formed in the earth thousands of years ago under extreme heat and pressure. This extreme heat and pressure in the earth transforms this carbon into crystals and colorless. Although diamonds are formed in the earth, the volcanic activities are thought to have brought them to the surface of the earth in the early days. Hence, these volcanic pipes are found to have diamonds in them. When some of the minerals mix with the carbon, the diamond takes some other color in it. Such diamonds that are colored are very rare and valued much than the normal diamond, which is colorless.

Some of the diamond mines

Diamond mines are found in Canada and Australia. Diavik Diamond Mines is found in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories Canada. It is estimated that this diamond mine reserves are 95.6 million carats. The Argyle diamond mine found in the Kimberley region in the far north of Western Australia is one of the popular mines that produce the Argyle diamonds. This mine produces more than one third of the world’s production of diamonds.

How diamonds are valued?

Diamonds are valued by their Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight. You should remember the four C’s that are used to value diamonds. Cut, Color, and Clarity are used to measure the quality of the diamond and the final C, which is Carat, is used to measure the size of the diamond. Man creates cut in a diamond and the other C’s are formed in nature.

Types of diamonds

When minerals are mixed in nature with the diamond, it gives the characteristic color for the diamond. Based on the type of mineral that is mixed, we can classify the diamonds in to many types. The following are the colors that are found in the diamond.

Yellow: this color is formed when Nitrogen is combined with diamond crystals.
Blue: During the formation of the diamond if elements of Boron are mixed then the diamond will be in blue color
Green: Green color is caused due to a missed out atom in the lattice of atoms.
Brown: Any dislocation in the lattice of atoms causes brown coloring in the diamonds.
Pink: Dislocations in the lattice missed out atoms, and some impurities that are non-nitrogen causes pink color in diamonds.

Carat – The Measuring Unit

Carat is the unit that is used to measure diamonds. In the earlier days, diamonds were weighed by using the Carob tree seeds. A seed from this tree was considered as one carat. Now-a-days one carat is equivalent to 0.2 grams. Diamonds of less than one carat are known as pointers. Suppose the weight of diamond is 0.18 grams, and then it is known as 18 pointers. The more the carat the more is the price of the diamonds.
