So they’ll embark on their journey to a new physique, telling themselves that this will be “THE” year they totally get in shape.

But for most, it’s short lived. Like a couple of weeks, tops.

Why does this occur? Why do so many people call it quits well before their body even stops aching from the new-found exercise routine they just started.

Here’s why: They haven’t made fitness a habit.

Virtually everything you do in life is the result of habit. How you drive to work, what you do in the morning to get ready, what you eat for dinner. All habits.

The way you walk, talk, think, spend money, it’s all the result of your habits. In fact, it’s been said that 95% of what you do in a given day is all based upon your habitual behavior.

And these habits can be the obstacles to your achieving the fitness goals you want to achieve. The way you think, feel, and act are roadblocks that stand between the body you currently have and the physique you really want.

Habit is comfort. It’s that “zone” that doesn’t make you think too hard or fail at anything. In the absense of some outside force, you’re going to keep doing the same thing indefinitely. Not because they work, but because they’re comfortable.

And believe me, comfort can kill goals.

Let me ask you a question: If what you’re doing isn’t working for you, if you’re not losing the weight you want or gaining the muscle you desire…

What makes you think it’s going to, any time soon.

Look, habits are only good if they get you what you want. It’s when they stop you from achieving your goals that you have to either modify or change them completely.

And that’s how you’re going to make 2006 better than 2005. By changing your unproductive habits.

You need to start by “thinking” differently. Instead of focusing on all the things you can’t achieve, start habitually thinking of all that’s possible for you to accomplish with your fitness levels.

Instead of thinking that you’re too fat or you’re too lazy, start thinking about how you’d feel with your perfect body. The amount of muscle you want, the energy you’d like to have, the strength you’d like to feel.

Start to see yourself as thin, or toned, or muscular, or whatever it is you want to be. You have to think it before you can have it.

>From there, you’ll begin to make better choices in your nutrition and workouts. Those choices, if you stay with them, will develop into new, more empowering habits that will help you succeed, not hold you back.

Changing habits that are no longer consistent with what it is you want to achieve is one of the hardest, yet most important, things you’ll ever do in your life.

Your job, from here on out, is to form good habits. And in order for you to stay with them, you need to keep doing them for at least 21 days. That’s just about the time it takes to bring a new habit into lasting effect.

If you’re not gaining the muscle or strength you want, you have to start forming new and improved habits in the gym.

If you want to lose some fat weight, you have to make better nutrition habits. Start planning out healthy meals, in advance. Prepare large amounts of healthy foods and store them in your fridge to have on hand when you need something quick and healthy.

Do yourself a favor. For the next 21 days, feed your mind better thoughts that will lead to better choices. This will flow right into the typical New Year’s resolutions time period.

Those better choices, if you stay with them for that 21 days, will lead to better habits.

And it’s your habits, each and every day, that will determine your levels of muscle and fitness. Change your daily habits so that they serve you, not stop you, from making 2006 better than 2005.

Make this coming year different. Be different from everyone else. Resolve to make it the year you get the body you’ve always wanted.

You need to use all the weight you can handle and then add some more. Since the squat is the toughest weight lifting exercise you can do physically, it’s also the toughest mentally.

Your mind gives in on the squat well before your body does. If you want to gain lots of muscle, you need to put an end to that. Everything you have has to go into your squatting program.

Hard work on the squat is the single most important thing you can do to ensure your bodybuilding success. Forget about the latest greatest high tech routine or the newest supplement fad. The key component to any program you do is hard work. Hard work will take you much further than your choice of exercises, sets or reps. And high rep, heavy squats or deadlifts are the key ways to gain weight.

The key to the success of rapid weight gain by squatting is the amount of work you put into it. After your warm ups, load the bar to a weight you normally do 10 reps with. Now, do 20 reps. No, I’m not kidding. Like I said before, the squat is the most mental exercise there is. I’ve never seen anyone, when properly prepared mentally, fail to get 20 reps with their 10 rep weight.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy and you may be taking 10 deep breaths and a half a minute between each rep toward the end, but you will do it, if you are mentally strong.

By rep 10, your mind will be ready to rack the weight like you’ve always done. But who controls your mind? You do. So tell it not this time, take 3 deep breaths and get that 11th rep. Now you’re in a world of your own. Nothing matters but the next rep. Your success or failure at this point is solely determined by the power of your mind. If your mind gives up, your body will pack it in. You’re done.

The last few reps will have every part of you screaming to call it quits. Block it out! Whatever it takes to get the next rep – 10 deep breaths, a promise to yourself, a make believe deal that if you complete number 20, you get a date with Carmen Garcia. I use counting tricks to help me along. I’ll count 1 through 10 on the first 10 reps, then 1 through 5 on the next 5, then backwards from 5 to 1 on the next 5. Whatever helps you complete all 20 reps.

When you’re finished, stagger over to a bench. If you can walk, you didn’t work hard enough. Flop over the bench and do a set of light pullovers, 20 reps, with no more than 25 pounds. Get a good stretch.

Do this twice a week for 6 weeks. Each time add 5 pounds to the bar from your previous workout. That’s 12 workouts and a 60 pound increase in your squat weight. You can do this. And you will grow. Fast. Remind yourself each time you workout, you only have X more workouts to go. Think about it, it’s just 12 sets over 6 weeks. You can do that, right? Of course you can, if you really are looking for top ways to gain weight and you want to gain weight as badly as you say you do.

If you don’t get your squat up to over 300 pounds on this program eventually, you aren’t going to get the muscle gains that you want.

The longer you shake it, the more light you get. But this is gentle movement, so
even those with arthritis should have little or no problem. The casings are clear so
that you watch them work while you shake them. It’s cool retro-back to basics. Old
cars used to have those coils for energy. The technology is not at all new, though
applying them to everyday flashlights is. Do I love them? Yes and No.


I love the very few I’ve found that are dependable. I despise the majority I’ve found
that are junk. Out of the several I have found, hefted, shaken and had sent to me as
demos, there are only three that I would ever buy or recommend to my customers.
