Looking Back to Move Forward

June 30th, 2008 by admin

Another year is over. Take a moment to reflect on the past years.Start with an honest evaluation of your accomplishments, successes and failures.

Welcome the new year with a celebration of the past. Whatever challenges you faced last year, you are here to face another year. You are inspired and ready to tackle new endeavours, explore new horizons and reach for the stars.

Looking back helps to evaluate what worked and what didn’t. Some issues seem to be replayed over and over. How many years has it been that you’ve promised to be more vigilant about your diet and exercise? What about the overuse of your credit card? How do you manage your time? What is it going to be this year? What are your priorities?

It’s all a matter of perspective. Somewhere in the past, you stumbled and for a while, you were spinning your wheels. Take heart, that is past. There is a deep
well of strength and courage within you. And you moved on.

No one passes through this life without knowing pain and heartache. Add to this regret over lost opportunities, wrong choices and wrong decisions. These do not define your life. It is the lessons learned from these , and the determination to do better. Reap the nuggets of precious insights from the muddle and move on.

How well do you take care of your mental, physical and spiritual self? If you believe in taking care of your mental and spiritual well-being, your physical
health will definitely reap the benefits. Do you allow yourself time alone to enjoy peace and quiet? Have you learned to say NO. Do you take time to appreciate the beauty , the bounty and the blessings of the universe?

Stress is the scourge of living in the fast lane and getting caught up in the pursuit of material success. Consider seriously the level of your stress over the past years and how it affects your health. Think about this- your stress level impacts on your relationships, your career, your family and your whole life.

Some pursue elusive dreams. How long has it been? Ask yourself. Perhaps it’s time to re-assess that dream. Times change. There are other avenues to pursue. Don’t get stuck chasing after something that loses its value, its luster as time moves on. Don’t let life pass you by.

Look back honestly, but kindly. And move on.

Gaming Notebooks To Turn Mobile And Light

June 29th, 2008 by admin

Laptops have most likely been on the top of everyones must have list lately. So astronomical demand but short supply according to what manufacturers are expecting. It seems like once there are backlogs those will only mount up because demand for laptops is not slowing down at all. It’s a fast evolving industry that is seeing new trends all the time.

Laptop computers are becoming more suitable for gaming due to continuing performance increases. You can actually get a high specification for your cash these days because even the top notch technology is slipping into the mass market area very quickly. I play games on my laptop on a frequent basis and must say I’m delighted how playable some of the intense games are. What stuck me the most is how sleek and slick a couple gaming laptops are becoming in contrast to earlier years. Extreme game players will always prefer their desktop gaming setup for speed and rightly so but it’s the usability laptops give that makes people settle on frame rates. It’s a segment to keep tabs on as purchasers are looking for smaller, more potent systems as we speak.

For the specialist purchasers using notebook computers] for a particular reason, custom laptops give the versatility required. One thing with custom laptops is that you can aquire higher specification components. In my opinion being able to choose the processor, ram and storage is most suited the more extreme users out there. The laptops found in shops are for normal tasks. Custom built laptops exist for this reason. They fulfil things that others cannot. I like that idea that there are numerous of smaller resellers offering great support for custom laptops. This is also another big selling point.

I feel a lot of consumers are waiting for the next pack of laptops. The ultra low cost laptop niche seems to be producing all the exciting at this time. They have their distinct sector in the notebook computer market in such a short space of time. Consumers desirequire slim, super lightweight notebooks but they also want them to have massive screens. I reckon forming an attractive price point is a main barrier in all this. Surely the technology is accessible. It would not shock me to see ultra light gaming laptops in the next forthcoming future. I really don’t know what to expect aside from those ideas mentioned. Someone is modifying a gadget to be diverse in a crowed market.

For the cost these are the best gaming laptops.

Internet Nielsen Reports

June 28th, 2008 by admin

What if you were able to have access to your competitor’s web statistics? What if you knew how much traffic they had, the average number of page views, what other sites their visitors went to? What if you could tell how successful a campaign was or if their recent press release had any impact? Would that be a strategic advantage?

The Nielsen Ratings of the Internet

There is an incredible marketing research tool called the Alexa Toolbar that you can find at www.Alexa.com. Alexa is owned by Amazon and is essentially the Nielsen Ratings for the Internet.

Relative Traffic Rankings

When you install the Alexa Toolbar you will be able to see a ranking of every important website on the Internet. It’s a relative ranking and biased towards the US but it’s incredibly useful information. A traffic ranking of 10,000 means that there are 9,999 websites more popular and every other website on the Internet is less popular. So if your competitor is claiming they are the most popular website of their kind on the Internet you’ll be able to judge for yourself. No Data means that although the website may have some visitors, none of them use the toolbar or it’s not significant enough to measure.

Historical Traffic Trends Shown Graphically

As a consumer you’ll be able to determine how popular a website is and if “they’re real”. Alexa shows historical trends graphically for the top 100,000 websites on the Internet so you can see if a website is getting more or less popular. You can even do a graphical comparison between two websites, like you and your competitor, to see how you’re doing. The site also details reach per million surfers and average number of page views per visitor in both table form and graphically (An example can be seen at http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=vmmg.net).

Other Statistics

Alexa also has a variety of other useful statistics about websites. It lists the number of important links to the website which is a factor when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. This would not include most “link farms” and relatively less important website links. It also shows where the visitors are spending their time on a website and what other websites the visitors are surfing.

Top Website Listings

There is also top website listings and top category listings for a number of vertical markets. Want to find out the top sports sites, business sites or even photography, it’s all here. This is really useful when you’re looking at the dominant players in your market and trying to emulate the best in your category.

Install the Toolbar Now

Although anyone can get the great information on Alexa just by going to the website, you’ll want to install the toolbar for real-time analysis of every website you visit. Not only will you be able to determine the relative ranking of every website you visit, but you’ll instantly see related websites that may aid in finding whatever you’re looking for. You can download the toolbar now at www.alexa.com.

Get More Clients with the Book Yourself Solid Trust Building Process

June 26th, 2008 by admin

An effective sales cycle is based on building a relationship of trust with your potential clients. I’m sure you’ve heard it said before, but it’s worth repeating, “People buy from those they like and trust.” It is truly as simple as that. Trust is critical. Especially for the service professional and small business owner.

Without trust, it doesn’t matter how well you’ve planned, what you’re offering, or whether or not you’ve created a wide variety of buying options to meet varying budgets. If the potential client doesn’t trust you, nothing else matters. They aren’t going to buy from you. Period.

All sales start with a simple conversation and are executed when a need is met and trust is assured. The Book Yourself Solid Sales Cycle helps us start the trust building process and helps us systematically, automatically, and authentically move the relationship forward.

If you’re good at making friends you’ll be good at making sales. Sales is often a confronting subject for many of us but as I mention above the sales conversation is just that – a conversation. If you can talk to people you can make a sale for the betterment of the person that is buying your product or service. It’s not about manipulation or coercion.

In order to design a Sales Cycle for your business, you must first establish your 6 Part Foundation and your 6 Part Trust Building Process. The combination of these two exercises will give you a Sales Cycle that will attract more clients than you can handle, even if you hate marketing and selling.

The 6 Part Sales Cycle Foundation – The Who, What, Where, When, Why and How

The foundation on which you rest your Sales Cycle is crucial. You need to have a solid foundation before actually designing a sales cycle. To build a foundation which will give you rock solid security you must clearly and concisely identify the who, what, where, when, why and how. This will ensure that the offers you’re making in your 5 Stage Sales Cycle Process are right on target.

- Who Is Your Target Client/Customer? Focus on one person (or organization) within your target market.

- What Are They Looking For? You’ve got to understand what your ideal client or customer is looking for.

- When Do They Look For You? What needs to happen in their personal life or work life for them to want the kind of service that you offer?

- Why You? What is unique about you or the solutions you offer?

- How Do You Want Them To Engage with You? What is it that you want a potential client to do when they find you?

- The Book Yourself Solid 6 Stage Sales Cycle Process

In creating a sales cycle you’ll design a step-by-step way to ease your potential clients from the first stage; getting them to your website, to the end stage; your highest price-point product, program or service.

Stage 1: The idea in this stage is to introduce yourself to your target market and begin to create awareness for the services, products, and programs you offer.

Stage 2: Give/Engage: Now that you’ve got your prospective client to your website (or other meeting place) you need to offer solutions, opportunities and relevant information in exchange for their email address or other way of continuing the conversation.

Stage 3: Keep giving low-barrier for entry offers of value-rich content, opportunities, experiences etc. Your goal is to build trust and deepen the conversation.

Stage 4: If potential client responds to Stage 3, assess then make an email or verbal offer based on the most appropriate products, programs and services.

Stage 5: If client accepts offer and becomes client/customer! Thank them, celebrate and then over-deliver. Surprise them with value.

Stage 6: If prospect does not engage and become a client or customer, still go above and beyond to offer something of unexpected value and keep in touch, keep in touch, keep in touch. Always offering value and deepening the bond of trust between them and you. When they NEED your services you will be top of mind.

There are a multitude of ways to build trust with your potential clients and to ease them toward purchasing your higher price point offerings. There is no ‘one’ right way, so use your imagination and creativity to tailor your sales cycle to what works best, feels most natural, and resonates most with you. This can be done in a 3-stage process or a 15-stage process. It’s really up to you, but I’ve found through experience and research that a 6-stage cycle at a minimum is most effective.

The key is to remember that all of your marketing is about getting your message out to those who most need, and will most greatly benefit from, your services, products, and programs. It’s about connecting with your potential clients to develop and deepen genuine relationships based on trust. When you understand and incorporate this philosophy into your marketing, it makes the sales process easy, relaxed and wildly successful.

Will Islam Rule?

June 24th, 2008 by admin

Khaled Mash’al, leader of the Hamas movement which won the Palestinian elections in January 2006 gave a speech in Damascus which was broadcast on al-Jazeera TV on February 3rd 2006. He told the European nations to apologise to Islam because: ‘Tomorrow, our nation will sit on the throne of the world. This is not a figment of the imagination, but a fact. Tomorrow we will lead the world, Allah willing. Apologize today, before remorse will do you no good. Our nation is moving forwards, and it is in your interest to respect a victorious nation.’ His speech went on to say that the first phase of the Islamic world conquest would be the elimination of Israel and the defeat of the West in Iraq.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agrees. He said in Iran’s holy city of Qom on 5th January, ‘We must believe in the fact that Islam is not confined to geographical borders, ethnic groups and nations. It’s a universal ideology that leads the world to justice.’ He believes his main mission is to ‘pave the path for the glorious reappearance of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance.’ According to Shiites, the 12th imam disappeared as a child in the year 941. They believe he will return and be known as the ‘Mahdi’ and reign on earth for seven years, before bringing about a final judgment and the end of the world.

At the same time the entire Islamic world has been roused to fury over cartoons printed in a Danish newspaper. We have evidence (available on request) which shows how the cartoons row has been cleverly manipulated by Islamic radicals with the aim of uniting Muslims against the West in order to create submission to Islamic demands and to defend Iran and Syria against censure from the UN. It is not a co-incidence that Denmark is set to assume the rotating presidency of the U.N. Security Council at the very time that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is expected to refer Iran to the Security Council and demand sanctions. At the same time the Security Council wants to question Syria and the regime of President Assad about the murder of Lebanese President Hariri. To portray Denmark as ‘an enemy of the Prophet’ would be helpful to the Islamic world in creating the idea that all censure of Muslim countries is part of an anti-Islamic western conspiracy.

In the UK, Islamic leaders are using the cartoons controversy to put pressure on the government to limit what can be said in the press about Mohammed. Patrick Sookdheo of the Barnabas Fund comments on this, ‘If we pass laws or even simply create a new code of practice for the press specifically to protect Mohammed, I fear it could prove to be the thin end of the wedge. From self-imposed censorship we could soon move to more serious situations. In Pakistan there has been a mandatory death sentence since 1991 for ‘defiling the name’ of Mohammed.’ He goes on to show how the Muslim Action Committee is using the cartoons furore to reverse the defeat suffered by the Muslims when the House of Commons unexpectedly voted to pass the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill in a form which does not provide the protection for Muslims which the government had intended.

The cartoon controversy led to a demonstration in the streets of London with slogans calling for ‘infidels’ to be beheaded and showing support of suicide terrorism. One said ‘Europe you’ll come crawling when Mujahadeen come roaring.’ There was widespread outrage at this demonstration and moderate Muslims sought to distance themselves from it. However days later a poll of British Muslims revealed that 45% favour the establishment of Shari’a (Islamic) law in Britain.

This is in line with the world vision of Islam which from the days of its inception is to bring the world into subjection to Allah as defined in the Koran. Mohammed’s mission was universal, with the aim of not only preaching, but also changing all existing societies into an Islamic society governed by the laws of Allah, known as the Shari’a.

Therefore Islam grants radical Muslims a mandate to change the existing society into an Islamic society, to make Islam supreme, and thus dominate every aspect of society. This is not only the desire of fundamentalists like Osama bin Laden, but would seem to be the desire of a large number of Muslims all over the world.

This desire is reflected in a document written in 1980 entitled The Islamic Movement in the West by Khurram Murad who was then the head of the Islamic Foundation with branches around the world. He outlined his Islamic revolution and the blueprint of how to bring it about in the West.

On page three of his document he posed the question: ‘What is an Islamic movement?’ He goes on to answer: ‘An Islamic movement is an organised struggle to change the existing society into an Islamic society based on the Koran and the Sunna, and make Islam, which is a code for entire life, supreme and dominant.’

Such views can find ample justification in the Koran which teaches that Muslims must be supreme over non Muslims and should be engaged in a jihad to achieve this until the Day of Judgement.

‘So lose no heart, nor fall into despair. For you must gain mastery, if you are true in faith. Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book (i.e. Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizya (poll tax to be paid by non Muslims living in a Muslim society) with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.’ Sura At-Tawba 9:29 (Yusuf Ali’s Translation).

So will Islam rule the world? Of course expressing the aim of world domination and achieving it are two different things. Hitler promised 1000 year Reich but in 1945 Berlin lay in ruins and the Nazis were shattered. The Communist Manifesto spoke of the inevitability of world revolution and Communist dominance, but in 1989 the Berlin Wall came down and in 1991 the Soviet Union fell. I remember talking to wild eyed Maoists at Speaker’s Corner in London during the 1970s who said their brand of Communism would be victorious and the thoughts of Chairman Mao would last 10,000 years. Now capitalism has come to China and Mao’s Red Book is a collector’s item. Will the same thing happen to the Islamic radicals? Can we find any clue about this in the prophecies of the Bible?

What the Islamists have going for them is the wealth generated by oil reserves in Middle Eastern countries which has financed much of the spread of Islam worldwide. It also provides a powerful means of exerting pressure on the rest of the world. ‘Don’t upset us if you want a regular supply of the oil necessary to keep your system going.’ They also have a world wide network of mutual support groups through the mosques and Muslim organisations and the concept of ‘umma’ which ties Muslims to each other and means that if one is offended all are offended.

There are a number of things they do not have going for them however. While it is true that the West is dependent on oil most of which comes from Muslim countries, the Muslims are also dependent on the West to supply technology and trade. If they destroy the West they also will be destroyed in the process. It also needs to be said that despite the concept of ‘umma’ the Muslim world is divided along many lines – Sunni and Shi’a, moderate and radical, Arab and non Arab. In fact the biggest killers of Muslims in the world today are other Muslims. Amongst non Muslims terrorism and the kind of agitation unleashed by the cartoon controversy has increased a feeling of fear and hostility towards Islam in much of the world.

When we come to the Bible there are two major issues we need to look at relevant to this question. Firstly the issue of Israel and the surrounding nations. There are a number of passages in Bible prophecy which show that at the end of this age the Jewish people will return to Israel and make the once desolate land a fertile one again (Ezekiel 36). Jerusalem will be focal point of world attention (Zechariah 12.2-3).

The surrounding nations will be hostile to Israel and fulfil the words of Psalm 83.4, ‘Come let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more’. In verses 6-8 of this Psalm there is a list of nations, which can be identified with Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Gaza, Syria and Iraq. In 1948, 1967 and 1973 Israel has had to fight wars for survival against superior armies from these countries bent on pushing the Jewish state into the sea.

In this Psalm there is a reference to Zeba and Zalmunna, who said, ‘Let us take for ourselves the pastures of God for a possession’ (v 12). We find reference to Zeba and Zalmunna in Judges 8. They were kings of Midian, leaders of the army, which came against Israel in the days of Gideon. In Judges 8.21 we read: ‘Gideon arose and killed Zeba and Zalmunna and took the ornaments that were on their camels’ necks’. The Hebrew word used for ‘ornaments’ is ‘ha saharonim’, an unusual word, which is correctly translated in the New King James Version as ‘crescent ornaments’. The crescent ornament showed dedication to the moon god of paganism. Today there is a world religion, which also uses the crescent as its symbol – Islam. Islam embodies everything spoken of in this Psalm in its attitude towards Israel. It is the dominant religion of the countries, which surround Israel. Nevertheless the countries which come against Israel in Psalm 83 are defeated and are not successful in their aim.

The prophecy of Ezekiel 38-9 goes further and brings in a great power to the uttermost north leading the armies of Gog and Magog which include Persia in their number. While there is much debate amongst commentators as to the identity of the nations involved there is no doubt where you get to if you go to the uttermost north of Israel – Russia. Russia today is emerging from the humiliation of the collapse of the Soviet Union to become a major player in world affairs with its huge oil and gas reserves and its growing arsenal of weapons. Russia has a large Muslim population within its borders and the Asia republics of the former Soviet Union have Muslim majorities. Although Russia became unpopular with the Islamic radicals over its policy in Chechnya, it has historically favoured the Arab states hostile to Israel. President Putin has invited Hamas leaders to Moscow and the Russians are supplying the material for the construction of the Iranian nuclear power station in Busheir which is the cause of the current crisis. If the United States or Israel attacks Iranian nuclear facilities it could bring Russia into the fray of the Middle East powder keg.

Whether Russia is the subject of this prophecy is debatable (we have a tape / CD on the subject available on request at £3 including postage). What is not debatable is that Iran / Persia is. Apart from the possibility of Russia, the nations which come against Israel on this occasion are Islamic. They come with the intention of wiping out Israel but they meet their doom on the ‘mountains of Israel’ as God intervenes directly and destroys those armies. (Ezekiel 38.18-23).

The next question to ask is whether or not this event is the same as Armageddon (Zechariah 14, Revelation 16 and 19). There are a number of reasons why I believe it is not (given on the tape already mentioned). If it comes some time before Armageddon one has to ask ‘What would be the effect on the Islamic world of such an event?’ Far from conquering the world by first conquering Israel, Islam would suffer a humiliating defeat at the hands of God not any human power. The Bible says that this event will cause the Lord (i.e. the God of Israel) to be ‘hallowed in the sight of many nations’ (Ezekiel 39.27). The clear implication of this is that Islam will not succeed in ruling the world.

The Bible teaches that ‘the Antichrist is coming’ but also that ‘many antichrists have come’ (1 John 2.18). It is my view that the Islamists are one of the ‘many antichrists’ who will come before the end of days but not the Antichrist. While they have many characteristics of antichrist – denial of Jesus as Son of God, persecution of Christians, a goal of worldwide rule – there are a number of features of the Antichrist which do not fit in with Islam. The main ones are these.

According to 2 Thessalonians 2.3-4 the second coming of Jesus will be preceded by the revelation of the ‘man of sin … who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.’ In other words he opposes not only the true God but all gods. This is also shown in Daniel 11.37 and Revelation 17.16-17. He also proclaims himself to be god (just as the Roman Caesars did). Both of these aspects of the coming Antichrist are entirely contradictory to Islam which believes in submission to Allah and is wholly opposed to anyone claiming to be a god equal to Allah.

In Revelation 13 the false prophet sets up an image to be worshipped by all and causes all to receive the mark of the beast without which they cannot buy or sell. The worship of images is forbidden under Islam so how could an Islamic leader bring in such a system? This also implies a highly technological society which has developed the means to give everyone a number and to control them by some kind of mark which gives them the ability to buy or sell. This fits in much more with a society dominated by the technology developed in the West.

The Bible teaches that at the end of days the Beast or Antichrist will rule the world: ‘And authority was given him (the beast) over every tribe, tongue and nation.’ Revelation 13.7 and that he and the dragon (Satan) who gives him his power are worshipped by all peoples. As we have seen Islam aspires to world dominion. However in my opinion it lacks the ability to deliver on this. You can threaten countries with terrorism and cause chaos but this does not make you popular. The implication of Bible prophecy is that initially the Antichrist will be popular offering people ‘peace and safety’ (1 Thessalonians 5.3) and be worshipped in return, just as Hitler was very popular when he came to power and was worshipped by people raising their hands and saying ‘Heil Hitler’. It is hard to see how Islam could ever be in such a position worldwide.

Finally the prophecies of Daniel 9.27 and Isaiah 28.14-19 imply that at the end of days the Antichrist will make a deceptive peace treaty with Israel. If Islam succeeds in ruling the world it would simply snuff Israel out like a child blowing out a candle. Why bother with a peace treaty?

Putting all this together in my judgement the most likely scenario goes as follows. There will be a failed Islamic assault on Israel with many seeing that God is not fighting for but against those who seek to destroy Israel. Out of the fear created by this war which threatens the safety of the whole world the Antichrist will arise offering ‘peace and safety’ probably out of the EU or the UN (or both). He will use the advanced technology of the West to impose a one world economic system backed by an occult religious system which will appeal to people disillusioned by the mess of contemporary religions (including Islam and nominal Christianity). Once this is in place the final period of the great tribulation will begin and a great time of persecution will take place. The world will gather for the final battle of Armageddon involving all nations led by the beast and the false prophet. They will meet their doom when the Lord Jesus returns in power and glory with the saints (believing Christians). As a result of this the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Messiah and He shall reign for ever and ever (Revelation 11.15). In that day ‘The Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be ‘The Lord is one and His name one.’ Zechariah 14.9. Hallelujah!

Tony Pearce began Light for the Last Days in 1988 when he was working as a school teacher in north London and wrote a few articles about Bible prophecy which he circulated to friends.

How To Stay Positive In spite of The Negativity Around You

June 24th, 2008 by admin

I’m often asked how it is that I stay so positive. Now allow me to clear up some misconceptions you might have based on that last statement. I am not one of those folks that walk around with what is commonly referred to as a career politician’s smile painted across my face.

Although I do believe whole-heartedly in the power that a simple smile can impart on another. No, you see, just like everyone else, no matter how over all a positive person I am, or attempt to view things I still have my down moments.

I like to call it being human :-)

The very fact that we are just that, human, allows us all to have down times. The difference lies in how quickly we choose to get over those things that are holding us back, or making us feel at less then our personal best. And that I believe is a major key – being able to get past the downtimes in ones life as quickly as possible and getting back on with being your best. Moving towards continuous improvement.

Remember, self-improvement is a hands on project. That is to say that without ongoing implementation and attempting of the new ideas we learn, try as we might, we aren’t going to miraculously wake up one day changed people. No, we’ve got to apply those ideas and bits of advice we learn.

Now if I might elaborate a bit on motivation itself. And how I believe you can better stay on the path of leading a more positive life, as well as pursuing your journey with greater motivation. I’ll use the saying of Zig Ziglar; he has such a simple – yet powerful way of getting the point across…

Zig say’s, “People often say motivation doesn’t last, well that may be true, but neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it every day.”

Now if that’s not an ahhh haaaa moment for you, I’d like to ask you to really take in the simplicity of Mr. Ziglar’s words. You see, that is the “gasoline” that has fueled my own journey to where I am now. It’s how I stay positive in a world that others might tend to view as negative. It’s how I tune out most of the negative things around me, and tune into what’s positive.

But enough about me… Most importantly, it’s how you can lead a more positive daily life. And as you can see, it’s not really all that complex is it?

Let’s look at it another way. You wake up and you pretty much have a clean slate. In most cases your day is fresh – neither overly negative nor positive. That being the case – and if you’ll concede that what I illustrated above is true, then wouldn’t it stand to reason that importing positive thoughts (i.e. reading, listening, reciting, etc.) first thing in the morning, and throughout your day could do wonders towards reprogramming your mind and the over all way in which you see your world?

I would say that it would – So here’s your homework for today… Ugghhh, I never was that great of a student, and so I must tell you that even hearing that word homework, gives me the shivers as I’m sure it did some of you… Even so, like I said before, self-improvement is a hands on project so it’s worth getting over it and now embracing the view that you are a life long learner.

I did, and I can tell you – I’ve been infinitely better for it as I’m certain you will as well. It really is just a shift in your thinking from – I’m not a good student to – I enjoy learning for what it will make of me. Simple? Of course, but I’m living proof that simplicity is often all it takes.

So here’s what I’ll ask you to do….

Copy the following quote again on a 3×5 index card – or somewhere you can keep it handy and not lose it:

“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily” – Zig Ziglar.

Read that several times a day. Also, choose to read something or listen to something of a positive nature at least three times a day – preferably, morning, noon and evening. What would be even better is if you could immediately counter any and all negative experiences with something positive.

Given the events of most people’s days this isn’t always feasible, but it can pay dividends and is worth attempting. The big thing to keep in mind here is that no matter how great any idea or advice is, unless YOU choose to implement it and give it a fair shot to work its magic in your life you’re not going to get results.

Let me say that again – because it’s that important!

YOU have to be a part of your own success journey. If you want to see real lasting change for the better in your life, you’ve got to be the biggest part of the process.

So simply knowing that you can offset your negative feelings by introducing positive thoughts into your mind simply isn’t enough. No – you’ve got to actually do it – it’s going to mean keeping that motivational book, or tape handy to refer to when you need to. It might mean stopping what you’re doing at the moment or even scheduling yourself (and sticking to it) sometime to take in positive or motivational material.

Like dieting, or exercising, developing a positive mental attitude is a choice. It requires nurturing. It’s not always immediate, but if you will work on it, and cultivate it you will see results. And those around you will as well.

White Sun. How to be a Better Person.

June 23rd, 2008 by admin

It is always easy to know others, but it is hard to know oneself. It is easy to forgive the wrongs of oneself but it is hard to spare the faults of others. People can see things that are a hundred steps away but it is hard to see the back of one’s own body. To be a better person, understand that a piece of jade must be grounded in order to realize its use, and a nugget of gold must be smelt in order to realize its value. Without high mountains, valleys cannot be contrasted. Who never faces obstacles in life?

Failure is a success in disguise; bear and live through it. Why not start with your own family with this beautiful teaching from my Heavenly teacher, JiGong:

“There is no one who does not love his son, Why not take the same loving heart for the son to serve the father? There is no one who does not love his wife, why not take the same loving heart for the wife to serve the mother?

How can people be so agreeable with their children?
How can people be so unfilial to their parents?
May the sons and daughters of the world,
take ten percent of the love for their sons to please their parents.

How can people love their daughters so much?
How can one ill-treat the daughters-in-law?
May the fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law,
use 30% of the love for their daughters to love their daughters-in-law.

In seeking good-fortunes for the children by collecting gold for them, it is not certain that they can keep the wealth.

In creating good-fortunes for the children by collecting virtues for them, boundless blessings will they receive.

Feeding your son but not teaching him,
you do not really love your son.

Teaching your son but not strict enough,
you are putting him in danger and bringing him harm.

Be attentive to small things and be cautious with minor mistakes,
there won’t be any loss in the end.

Fulfill filiality at home with all your heart.
Render loyalty to the country with all your might.

No one who was unfilial and disloyal,
could have his name marked on bamboo and silk (annals of history)
and could have his name kept in fragrance for hundreds of generations.”

The foundation of any construction or edifice must be solid. Wisdom will only be stimulated when taking adversities and punishments. Likewise to be a better man, you need to be wise to know the most basic duty of a man. Like the plum flowers blossoming in the snow, do the first step, love and take good care of your aged parents before it is too late. The first of the eight virtues in the Chinese teachings is ‘Filiality.’

Finally Buying a Car

June 20th, 2008 by admin

The first time I went to go buy a car I was incredibly excited. My parents told me to consolidate student loans and that was about the only financial decision I had made yet. It was going to be my first real major purchase, and although I didn’t exactly have a great deal of money to spend for the car itself, I knew that by owning a car I would be able to do many of the things that could potentially make me money in the future, like a job on the eastside that I could drive to every day. Without a car I was limited to the work I could do in my area or get to buy bus, which wasn’t necessarily going to be the best job in the area.

I had tried to purchase a car in the past, but at the time I owed a great deal of money to credit card companies and had no real debt solution to try to rectify the problem. It took me a while to raise my credit score to the point where car dealers would sell me one of their automobiles, but now that that is finally over, I can purchase the car I want. Needless to say I am quite pleased. Though I wish I could buy that Lexus that parks itself. That would be super.
